St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital Hosts Reunion Holiday Party for Neonatal ICU Graduates and Families
St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital (SLWH) will host its annual Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) reunion celebration and holiday party for NICU graduates and their families on Saturday, December 8 from 10 a.m. until noon at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center located at 1601 Lake Robbins Drive.
In the spirit of celebrating life’s blessings during holiday season, the reunion will be highlighted with a special appearance of Santa Claus, complete with photo opportunities, activities, refreshments and giveaways. Parents and graduates as well as hospital staff, NICU nurses, and Neonatologists from St. Luke’s The Woodlands are expected to attend.
Graduates from SLWH’s Neonatal ICU and their families who are interested in attending can RSVP to Debra Staley, marketing & community relations manager for SLWH, via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Neonatal ICU supports newborns that need extra care due to complications of a pregnancy or delivery, such as being born too early. SLWH is the only hospital in the area to offer board certified pediatric emergency room physicians 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Texas Children’s Hospital provides all pediatric care at SLWH, including emergency and inpatient care. Pediatric physicians are on staff around the clock. Texas Children’s also has a specialty medical clinic on the St. Luke’s campus in The Woodlands, offering outpatient care from a variety of board-certified pediatric physicians representing 15 different specialties, including Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Ophthalmology and Physical, Speech and Occupational Therapy.
“We are excited to host this special reunion for our tiniest patients who are so near and dear to our hearts,” said Peg Reiter, PhD, RN, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, SLWH. “Having Texas Children’s Hospital’s medical specialists on campus to manage our pediatric care is a great asset to our community as newborns who need specialized medical care can in many cases be treated here locally, therefore avoiding a trip to the Texas Medical Center. We’re proud to provide Faithful, Loving Care® that’s close to home.”
Kim McDonough, BSN, RN, CCRN, pediatric services manager, SLWH, added, “The NICU reunion is a very special event for the neonatal nurses at St. Luke’s. These nurses strive to reduce anxiety, stress, and the loss of control parents often experience after having a premature or sick baby. The reunion is an opportunity for the nurses to reconnect with their patients and families. It’s a joy for them to know they have helped parents gain confidence, a sense of control, and feelings of connection to their baby.”
