St. Luke's Designated as a “Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite”

St. Luke's The Woodlands Hospital (SLWH) was recently awarded the Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite designation.

Texas Mother-Friendly Worksites are businesses that proactively support employees who choose to breastfeed their infants. Through policy implementation, breastfeeding employees are allowed flexible scheduling for breaktime and access to a clean, private room to express their breastmilk as often as necessary for the first year of their baby's life and beyond. Also available for the mothers is a sink to wash their hands and clean the breast pump equipment, and a refrigerator for the safe hygienic storage of breastmilk.

“Breastfeeding is known to be beneficial to the health of babies and mothers. At St. Luke's, we want to encourage our employees to continue to breastfeed after returning to work, which is why we are so proud that our hospital has been designated as a Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite,” said Peg Reiter, PhD, RN, vice president and chief nursing officer, SLWH.

St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital is located at 17200 St. Luke’s Way in The Woodlands at the southwest corner of SH 242 and I-45.  For more information, call 936-266-2000 or visit
