St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital Awarded by Entergy Texas
THE WOODLANDS, TX – January 29, 2010 – St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital, open in The Woodlands, Texas since September of 2009, has been recognized by Entergy Texas for its outstanding energy efficient design. The hospital received an incentive check of $16,061 from the Entergy Texas Commercial Solutions Program for incorporating efficient lighting and air conditioning equipment into its facilities.
Scott Reeves, Chief Facilities Engineer at St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital said, “Efficiency is a key element of our energy future, and Lakeside Hospital is committed to setting a positive example in the healthcare community. The combination of greater energy efficiency, lower utility bills now and in the future, along with improved plant facilities made participating in this project an easy decision.”
The new, high efficiency lighting and air conditioning systems installed in St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital are estimated to save annual greenhouse gas emissions of 136 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, which translates in to an estimated 190,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity each year, according to Environmental Protection Agency calculations.
As part of its participation in the program, St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital will continue to evaluate additional efficiency opportunities. “We look forward to continuing to work with Entergy to identify ways to further reduce energy use,” said Diane McNamee, Lakeside Hospital administrator. “Energy efficiency initiatives make sound business sense, as the reduced energy use generally offsets the cost of the initial investment.”
“We’re very pleased with the addition of St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital to our energy efficiency program portfolio,” said Lora Steen, Entergy Texas Customer Service Manager. “The new hospital facility that St. Luke’s recently completed is exactly the type of efficiency project the Commercial Solutions Program was created to encourage.”
