The Woodlands, TX- Jan 29, 2010 - Employees at the new St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital in The Woodlands recently challenged each other to the first annual “Lakeside Share-the-Love Food Fight” – benefitting the Montgomery County Food Bank. Employees and physicians, as well as a few patients participated in the contest—all in good fun- to raise much needed food and funds for those in need.
The Food Fight competition was launched between employees on each of the hospital’s three patient care floors. After a spirited week of fun and competition, the first floor claimed victory by gathering just over 400 pounds of food. A total of approximately 1,000 pounds of food was collected and donated to the Montgomery County Food Bank.
“Thank you to St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital for joining the Montgomery County Food Bank in its fight against hunger. We are seeing record numbers of requests for food and basic household supplies this winter. After the holidays, donations tend to drop off so we are especially appreciative of this spirited effort by St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital”, said Doris Goleman, Executive Director of the Montgomery County Food Bank.
Diane McNamee, St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital administrator commented, “As a new hospital we are enjoying creating traditions of giving for our employees. In the St. Luke’s spirit of Faithful, Loving Care, we are delighted to be able to share the love with our friends and neighbors.”
Marketing & Public Relations manager for St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital, Debra Staley added, “Having 15-year old twin boys, I know how important it is to have filling, nourishing food at home. Seeing the mountain of food donated by St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital fills my heart with joy and gratitude for a job well done. We applaud the efforts of the Montgomery County Food Bank.”
