St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital to set sail with opening Sept. 28

After almost two years of planning, development and construction, the new St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital in The Woodlands, which is dedicated to cardiology, sports medicine and orthopedic/spine care will officially open its doors to patients on Monday, September 28, 2009.

Located at 17400 St. Luke’s Way, on the main campus – just south of St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital – St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital is dedicated to providing the very best in sports medicine, orthopedic/spine care and non-invasive cardiology.

The 77,830 square foot, 30-bed surgical hospital features 13 ambulatory care rooms, six  surgical suites, nine post operative rooms, as well as three cardiac catheterization labs.  Diagnostic imaging is available on site and includes the latest in MRI, CT and nuclear medicine technologies.

Over 120 employees and physicians are already on board the staff at St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital.  According to Mona Tucker, director of human resources for St. Luke’s The Woodlands, over 4,000 employment applications were submitted for the first 100 positions that have been filled at Lakeside Hospital.

Debra F. Sukin, chief executive officer of St. Luke’s The Woodlands Hospital and St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital, said, “We are delighted to be welcoming over 100 new employees to the St. Luke’s family.  The opening of St. Luke’s Lakeside Hospital adds a new dimension of high- level services, and greater accessibility to quality medical care.  St. Luke’s continues to be committed to providing the best in healthcare care to North Houston and The Woodlands area.   We look forward to continuing to grow with the community.”

Diane F. McNamee RN, BSN, CNOR has been named Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) for Lakeside Hospital.  Brant Lipscomb, MD who specializes in orthopedic and sports medicine has been appointed Chief of Medical Staff.   Recognized cardiologist Vincent Aquino, MD will serve as Chief of Cardiology.  Kelly Blevins, MD, orthopedic and sports medicine physician has been named Chief of Surgery.  Dr. Wael Asi, critical care/pulmonary specialist, will act as Chief of Medicine, and cardiologist Dr. Bruce S. Lachterman has been named Vice Chief of Medical Staff.
